Where We Come From by Oscar Cásares

My summer travels to Brownsville, Texas with my mother to visit relatives were present when reading this novel. Raspa stands + molcahetes were the visuals from a time when crossing the border into Matamoros was so easy. Cásares presents the visual of a time that we are now living. The suffering endured by la gente on both sides of the border during these increasingly stressful times, while a fictional account, cannot but allow us to see the very real affects immigration has on human beings who are just trying to survive and live freely.
